Find the right desert safari for you

Morning vs Evening vs Overnight

Morning safaris pack dune bashing and sandboarding before the heat. Evening tours add sunset and the Inland Sea golden hour. Overnight camps extend to stargazing and breakfast under the desert sky.

Standard vs All-Inclusive

Standard covers dune bashing, sandboarding, and the Inland Sea viewpoint. All-inclusive adds a pre-bundled camel ride and 20–30 min of quad biking. No surprise add-on charges at the camp.

Half-Day vs Full-Day

Half-day runs 4–5 hours and fits transit visitors or layovers. Full-day extends to 7–8 hours with extended swim time at the Inland Sea (60–90 min), a BBQ meal, and resort facilities at Al Majles.

Private vs Shared Group

Shared group tours seat you alongside other travelers and offer the lowest per-person price. Private tours give your group a dedicated 4x4 Land Cruiser. Useful for families, couples, or flexible timing.

Quad biking

Activities included in your Doha desert safari

Your driver picks you up from your Doha hotel or meeting point in an air-conditioned Toyota Land Cruiser. The highway drive south takes 45–60 minutes. At Sealine, the driver deflates the tyres to 15–18 PSI before entering the sand. Most tours seat up to 6 passengers per vehicle.

Dune Bashing

Common activity

Your driver navigates a Toyota Land Cruiser up and down steep golden dunes for 30–60 minutes. The intensity is adjustable if in private group. Ask your driver to reduce speed if you're uncomfortable. Not recommended for pregnant travelers or guests with back/heart conditions.

Sandboarding

Common activity

Boards are provided at a high dune near the Inland Sea. You slide down on sand, no experience needed. The dunes reach up to 40 metres here. Walking back up is the tiring part. Allow 15–20 minutes for this stop.

Inland Sea (Khor Al Adaid)

Common activity

One of very few places on Earth where the sea penetrates a mobile dune system. The tidal lagoon is turquoise, warm, and shallow. Half-day tours allow a 20–30 min photo stop. Full-day tours give 60–90 min for swimming. Saudi Arabia is visible across the water.

Camel Ride

Included or add-on

Camel rides are held at a Bedouin-style camp near Sealine. Each ride lasts 10–15 minutes and a handler guides the animal throughout. Included in camel-ride variants; available as a paid add-on on base safaris.

Quad Biking (ATV)

Included or add-on

250cc ATVs with a safety briefing and dedicated instructor. Sessions run 20–30 minutes on designated tracks near Sealine. Available as a paid add-on (QAR 100–300) on most safaris, or pre-bundled in the all-inclusive option. Note: no insurance so if there are any damages, extra charges apply.

Falcon Photo & Bedouin Camp

Select tours only

Most tours stop at a Bedouin-style camp for a falcon photo opportunity and Arabic coffee (gahwa) with dates. The stop lasts 15–30 minutes. Quality varies by operator. Some evening tours include a henna station and shisha (not always included in the base price).

Your Doha desert safari itinerary

Step 1 — Hotel or Meeting Point Pickup (45–60 min)

Your driver meets you in the hotel lobby and loads you into a Toyota Land Cruiser. The highway south passes through Al Wakrah and into the Mesaieed corridor. At Sealine, the driver stops to deflate the tyres before the off-road section begins. Most shared tours collect 5–8 guests from different hotels or a central meeting point. Expect a 30–60 min pickup window before you exit the city.

Step 2 — Dune Bashing (30–60 min)

Once the tyres are deflated, the real drive begins. Your driver navigates the Land Cruiser up and over steep dune ridges; the ascents push you into your seat, the descents drop you forward. Most groups cover 10–15 km of dunes during this phase. Tell your driver before you start if anyone is prone to motion sickness; drivers routinely adjust intensity on request.

Step 3 — Sandboarding & Camel Ride (20–30 min)

The convoy pauses at a designated sandboarding slope. Boards are provided; most people slide seated on their first run. If your ticket includes a camel ride, this stop runs alongside the sandboarding at the Bedouin camp. The camp also has Arabic coffee and dates. Half-day tours without a camel option move on after sandboarding.

Step 4 — Khor Al Adaid (Inland Sea) (20–90 min)

The dunes end at the edge of a tidal lagoon; turquoise water against 40-metre sand walls, with Saudi Arabia on the far shore. Half-day tours allocate 20–30 min here (photos, walk along the waterline). Full-day tours extend to 60–90 min with swimming time. The water is shallow, warm, and calm. There are zero facilities at the open beach — no toilets, no shade, no shops.

Step 5 — Dinner / Resort (Full-day only)

Full-day tours include a BBQ meal at a desert camp (grilled meats, salads, local dishes, Qatari tea). The Al Majles Resort day-pass variant adds structured beach facilities: volleyball, table tennis, a sand slider, locker rooms, showers, and a chef-prepared meal. Vegetarian options are generally available, notify at checkout for dietary requirements

Step 6 — Return to Doha (45–60 min)

The convoy returns via a faster dune route to Sealine, where the driver re-inflates tyres at the free Sealine Tyre Pressure Station before rejoining the highway. Drop-off is at your original hotel or the designated meeting point. For hotel-pickup variants, expect to be back in Doha 45–60 min after leaving the desert.

Plan Your Doha desert safari

All desert safaris depart south from Doha toward the Mesaieed–Sealine–Khor Al Adaid corridor, roughly 60–78 km from the city.

📍 Khor Al Adaid (Inland Sea)

~78 km from Doha; ~30 km off-road from Sealine. 45–60 min of dune driving from the highway.

📍 Al Majles Resort

Off-road accessible from Sealine. Included in the full-day resort day-pass product only.

Doha to Inland Sea

Group enjoying Doha Half-Day Desert Safari in a 4x4 vehicle.
  • Hotel pickup: most tours collect you from your Doha hotel in a shared or private 4x4 Land Cruiser. Pickup windows span 30–60 min across multiple hotels.
  • Meeting-point option: some budget variants require you to reach the Sealine kiosk independently. This is 55 km south of Doha, practical only if you have a rental car.
  • Private transfer: a dedicated vehicle for your group. No waiting for other guests. Often comparable in per-head cost for groups of 4–6.
  • Monster Bus: pick up from Doha Bus Sealine kiosk only. Self-transport to the kiosk is required unless you add a separate Doha transfer.
  • No public transport: no metro, bus, or taxi service reaches Khor Al Adaid. A tour operator or your own equipped 4x4 is mandatory beyond Sealine.

  • Lightweight, breathable clothing; loose trousers or shorts with a cotton top work well.
  • Closed-toe shoes or sturdy sandals; sand gets hot, shells can be sharp at the Inland Sea beach, and dune climbing requires grip.
  • Bring a light jacket for winter evenings (November–March). Desert temperatures drop sharply after sunset.
  • Avoid long dresses and loose scarves during sandboarding or quad biking; they get caught in the equipment.
  • Sunglasses secured with a strap; sand and wind are constant on the open dunes.
  • Swimwear under your clothes if your tour includes or might allow an Inland Sea swim.

  • Half-day tours include bottled water and tea at the Bedouin camp only, no meal.
  • Full-day tours with BBQ include a buffet of grilled meats, salads, rice, hummus, and Qatari tea. Vegetarian dishes are available.
  • Al Majles Resort day-pass includes a chef-prepared lunch or dinner (set menu). Notify your operator of dietary requirements at checkout.
  • There are zero food vendors at the open Inland Sea beach. Bring snacks and extra water beyond the tour-provided bottles.
  • Dining near Sealine before/after: 4x4 Restaurant & Cafe and Exit 55 (rated 4.5★) are at Sealine Beach. Al Wakrah Souq has local restaurants 40 km north toward Doha.

  • Dune bashing is not recommended for pregnant travelers, people with back or spinal injuries, or guests with heart conditions.
  • Children of all ages can join most tours. Infants must sit on laps during dune bashing. Children must wear seatbelts throughout.
  • Quad biking (ATV): minimum age typically 7 years for junior bikes (70cc). Adult riders use 250–450cc bikes. Adult supervision required for minors.
  • If you have motion sickness concerns, request a gentle dune route from your driver before departure.
  • The entire desert and off-road route is not wheelchair accessible. Al Majles Resort has paved indoor areas (listed as wheelchair accessible on Expedia) but requires an off-road vehicle to reach.
